Primary Election:

A Proud Armenian-American

Zhirayr Gumruyan was born in Armenia and immigrated to the United States with his family, carrying with him the values, resilience, and determination that define the Armenian spirit. His journey from Armenia to America is a story shared by thousands of families in District 40.

Deeply connected to the Armenian-American community, Zhirayr understands the unique concerns and values that our community holds dear. From preserving our cultural heritage to supporting our churches, schools, and small businesses, he has lived the Armenian-American experience firsthand.

As a candidate for State Assembly, Zhirayr is committed to representing Armenian-American voices in Sacramento. He understands that our community needs a leader who does not just speak about our issues but has lived them — someone who knows what it means to build a life in a new country while holding onto the traditions and values of our homeland.

Honoring Our History

Zhirayr is committed to ensuring that the Armenian Genocide is fully recognized and its memory preserved. As an Armenian-American serving in the California State Assembly, he will be a voice for truth, justice, and remembrance.

The Armenian Genocide of 1915 must never be forgotten, and its recognition is not just a matter of history — it is a matter of human rights. Every generation has a responsibility to remember the 1.5 million Armenians who perished, to honor their memory, and to stand against genocide and ethnic cleansing wherever they occur in the world.

In Sacramento, Zhirayr will fight to strengthen Armenian Genocide education in California schools, support commemorative efforts, and ensure that our state continues to lead the nation in recognizing historical truth.
